Hi,
Brought myself a male royal spider 2day. Im keeping him in a medium size plastic fanarium aprox 15in long 8in deep. He is only a few months old. I cant seem to get the hot end any hotter than 28.9 I have the heat mat plugged into a mat stat which is up as high as it will go. the probe is taped to heat mat and the heat mat is obviously under the tank. The probe for the thermometer is in the tank on top of the aspen. How can i raise the temp?

Any help would be appreciated

I agree. Put the probe on the faunarium floor with only a very thin covering of aspen at the warm end (snakey will appreciate a thicker layer in cool end where he can burrow.) That way you'll get a more accurate temperature reading.

It drove me mad when I first had to get my head round all this stuff! Still does sometimes and it's a year since I started. You'll get there in the end.

How thick is the Aspen, you might need to thin it out a bit, its a good insulator.

Hi there, I would put the thermostat probe inside the faunarium mate.
