small rat, more nutritious, one of my males used to have a medium rat once a week then all of a sudden he stopped eating for 8 months.
Aaronjg Posted - 03/10/2010 : 10:31:27
im gonna giv him a weaner next week just hope he takes it i kno they can go months with out food but i jus want to kno he`s eating, shud i try a large mouse or a smaller rat?
anatess Posted - 03/10/2010 : 06:14:35
One weaner every 3 weeks for a 2 year old... Yikes!

Your snake could be hungry or he could just be stressing out or he could be just wanting to cruise. We can't tell. But I still say, like what everyone else is saying, offer more food even if it's not the reason he's cruising...

he didnt end up taking the rat last nyt so ill try him again next week :(
Aaronjg Posted - 01/10/2010 : 17:34:31
ok then so ill giv him only one this week then giv him another next friday
python23 Posted - 01/10/2010 : 17:22:39
i guess it dosent really matter if he eats 2 every 2 weeks or 1 every 1 week, but i would prefer to let him eat 1 a week then as he grows increase the size of the food.
Aaronjg Posted - 01/10/2010 : 17:18:35
i was trying to get him on a 2 week period by gradually bringing down the length on the feed . i was going to feed him on sunday then again on 17th
Aaronjg Posted - 01/10/2010 : 17:07:07
ok shall i give him wo this weeks then in two weeks tym only giv him 1 then a week later giv him another does that sound ok?
python23 Posted - 01/10/2010 : 16:57:37
It will do him good to eat two but if he only eats one thats fine, feed him one at a time for a few weeks then offer him one a week.
Aaronjg Posted - 01/10/2010 : 16:22:54
kk thankyou if i feed him today it will be closer to 2 weeks rather then 3 and should i give him two weaner rats on 1?
python23 Posted - 01/10/2010 : 15:55:08
Try every 10 days then, even Every 2 weeks is better than 3 weeks, I would say he should be heavier than that at 2 years old, good luck with him mate
Aaronjg Posted - 01/10/2010 : 15:41:20
ok and when i offered him a rat once a week he didnt take it though
python23 Posted - 01/10/2010 : 15:24:24
I would say once a week, 3 weeks is far too long between feeds I have an 11 month old male and he's 565g.
Aaronjg Posted - 01/10/2010 : 14:33:54
kk thanks and he is 2 years old about 30 inches long and last saturday when i weighed him he was 490 grams i get him out 2 times a week and the bloke from mill garden centre advised me to feed him every 2-3 weeks bcos thats when av been feeding him

My lad's definitely more active, roaming round and sitting with his head poking out of his hide, when it's time for his grub.
Blackecho Posted - 01/10/2010 : 07:41:32
How old/big is the snake?
reptiledanny Posted - 01/10/2010 : 07:10:01
who advised u to feed every 3 weeks??? as i feed my baby every 5 days
the activeness could either be down to yes that he is hungry, or that he is just exploring his cage again and maybe wants to come out
