well its hands of monty still  tried rat pup and still not intrested he is around 2.5 ft and quite fat im not sure weither i should try him on a weiner instead of a pup?
seconds question is, montys favuorite spot is wraping him self around the light guard but im getting worried as his belly looks dry a tiny bit flaky  what shall i do about it? |

Hi scotty, yeh thats why i asked in your other thread what he was eating in the shop before. You would be one of the lucky ones if he was eating mice then you brought him hm, offered a rat and he took it. Not that it doesn't happen though. Couple of options i can think of right would either be to persevere trying with rats. Try scenting the rat with a mouse or fresh mouse bedding i found works even better. to help him convert. He just needs to smell what is familiar to him as a prey item. Or get him feeding with you on mice and then convert him over to rats if thats your wish.
R.e the guard as danny said what temps is the guard getting to?

what food was he on before you got him??
do u now how hot the guard itself is??
if he looks like he could easily take a weaner then try offering him one
