im thinking of gettin an cb10 pastel and if i do i will be keeping it in a rub

my concern is that we have no central heating in our house so the room my snakes are in is quite chilly this time of year. would a heat matt be enough to keep the snake healthy if so what wattage would i need as i have never had a young royal b4. the ones i have had have all been adults and kept in vivs. the other thing is keeping an ambiant air temp, how would i go about getting this in a rub

yeh thats a bit chilly for them. Perhaps just knock together a small wooden viv
blackskull Posted - 06/01/2011 : 21:29:34
yeah that makes sense. the room temp is about 14 c today and its not even a cold day lol

how cold's the room Blackskull cause you could build a wooden box over the RUB to help insulate it so the rub sits in it like a drawer if that makes sense.

no i don't have any old vivs anymore

will have to have a re think, either try and make some room for another viv or leave it for a while

we have had oil filled rads in the room b4 but as the house is draughty it doesn't make much difference

thanks for the info bob

What's the temps of the room? Do you still have vivs?
A heat mat would be enough to create a hot spot (area of mat) but only raise the ambient temp in the rub by a couple degrees at best. The wattage just depends on the size of the mat which you want covering a 1/3 to a max of 1/2 of rub and attached to a thermostat. Using a rub the ambient depends on the room temp. You could use a oil filled rad to raise the room temp.
