I'm just after your opinions please of what's best for Winston. He's no more than 6 months, we only picked him up Tuesday evening but I'm wondering when the time comes what I should (in an ideal world) feed him?

He's been fed on medium mice, but I know rats are best. We have stocked up on mice and also weaner rats. So I'm just wondering should I continue with the mice or try a rat?

Just wondering as I've read somewhere it can be hard to get them onto rats after mice

Thanks in advance

ye i would try rats and no other for at least 5 weeks. he will get hungry and have to take a rat if he refuses them. but more than likely he will take a rat. some have problems with moving them onto rats, others are fine. both my two took rats with no problems, and never had to buy mice for them again.
but ye i wouldn't offer a mouse after trying a rat otherwise he will always think he will get what he wants if he refuses what he doesn't want, that way he will get onto rats sooner rather than later

I`d try the rats for a good 5-6 weeks at least, it`ll save all the hassle as he gets older.

Personally I'd try him on small weaner rats for a few weeks, see if you can get him switched.
