I think it is almost time for the "first feed" I got my pastel Yoda on Tuesday and he seems settled. His viv was upset a bit on Wed (trying to get the temps sorted) which are now right, and he regularly moves for hot to cold hide, though not seen
Ich of the little chap. He was fed by the shop on a Friday night, should I continue the trend to start with (planning to change this to a midweek day at some point) or should Ieave it for another few days? Any tips to help the feed go smoothly?
P.s planning to move him to a shoe box or something similar for feeding as I have beech chips in the viv

yeah you can still leave him for a wk to 10 days before feeding him, if he a good size and weight it wont hurt him. but on the other hand it wont hurt to offer sooner. its all down to personal choice and every snake is different, as in he might take it and might not. you can put some kitchen roll down and then put the food on top if you feed in the viv. i feed mine in vivs this way. the main reason why i feed in viv is that sully doesn't always eat as soon as i put the rat in and will eat it in the dead of night |

would that be the same for a 5yr old male thats always fed in his viv. wasn't really wanting to change his routine and potentially put him off his food. |

I always feed out of the viv, I use a rub to put him in with his rat, that way there are NO worries of him ingesting substrate. I have always left my snakes a full week to 10 days to settle into a new home before I tried to feed them, though if you think they are settled there is no harm in trying to see if they feed, just dont stress them (or yourself) out if they refuse. |

Exactly the same for us last feed was last Friday with previous owners. They always fed in viv but he's now on wood chip as oppose to newspaper. Should we try feeding outside or put kitchen roll down on top of wood chips. I know our corns tend to drag there food around before eating. |
