Need some urgent advice re our heating!

We have a Habistat DIMMING thermostat and 250w Ceramic in a 4x2x2 viv. Both are brand new and were turned on thurs for first time.

We have the sensor in middle of viv 3" off floor and the stat set to 28c. It was keeping a good temp of 30c at hot end until this evening (digi thermometer sensor on substrate below ceramic near hide where snake is)but for some reason the temps dropped to 25c at hot end and the ceramic doesnt seem hot at all. We put temp up to 30c on stat but still no hotter...are we doing something wrong where setting ceramic stat is concerned, is it the fact we're using a dimming stat where we should be using a PP (I thought they were both more or less the same sort of thing?)

We're worried because our baby spider is obviously not at the temp she should be....will she be ok til tomorrow if it continues to stay at 25degreesC????

UP. The closer to the heat the higher your stat will need to be set.

Can't really go by stat reading
Go by the thermometer where the basking spot is
You will find the nearer the heat the more you will need to turn down the stat

I put the stat probe where the thermometer probe is and wrap a elastic band round them both
And tweak till the thermometer reads what temp I need

That's just me tho

The lights on on the stat...
I've sat here and read and read about probe placements etc etc and have moved the probe further towards the bulb (which is working)but so far still only at 25c even tho stat is set to 30 :(

Don't panic she will be fine till the morning if the bulb has gone some people drop there night time temps
Although I don't
my dimmer flux about 1 degree either way

Like sandi said try a different bulb and see if that turns on
Does the stat heat light turns on and is red ?

Check the wiring on the bulb holder

Ceramic is fine with dimming stat or pp so should be ok. If you say the ceramic is not hot then i would say its either faulty or blown. Check fuse first, then check continuity. If you have a bulb of the same fitting, try it to see if it works in bulb holder.
