Okay, so this isn't really for Margwar, but I didn't want to ask on the Dark Side, cos I don't fancy the comments I know I'll get.
So, here goes.
We were given a free vivarium that once housed a tortoise, it's a normal vivarium, sliding doors, vents etc etc, but it was pretty dirty, so we took it apart to put into storage for later use.
However, when we were taking it apart, I noticed some small work like creatures in the joints (It was all done outside, and they were all killed as I saw them)
The problem now is, we'd like to start using the vivarium for a smaller female Royal that we may be getting, so peoples opinions on the best way of disinfecting the wood for the vivarium, the problem is, most of the wood is exposed on the edges, so I don't want to use anything that will 1. Soak in too much 2. Give of fumes when dried and hot.
Any ideas?
Would sanding it all down work and then varnishing it?

Exposed/bare wood isnt a good idea as it absorbs and holds bacteria so best to disinfect, dry out, then varnish with a waterbased(Acrylic) varnish, min 3 coats, leave for a couple of weeks to cure,.....bobs your uncle!

Maybe use that then hairdryer it dry ?
Best buying direct from them
