Good Evening Fellow Forumees

Can someone shed light on my dilemma please?

My beautiful Cora (Royal) was housed on high quality kitchen towel whilst in her RUB but since the upgrade to a viv and beech chippings - she seems less than impressed with the change
Suppose it's like going from triple velvet to own brand for us??

and rapscallion Koshi (Carpet) seems to be doing everything not to touch the floor of his viv and jungle bark. whether this is down to new found space who knows...

Anyone have any experience with seemingly fussy snakes?

Is there a substrate that is softer but can do for both wet and dry-then can buy in bulk and save money?

thanx
xx

yeah just give it another week and see how she is then.

any advice then Boomslang?
It the right temperature, hides same orientation. differences are substrate and heat from above rather than below.

sounds like its a change of home, thats making her less then impressed, and not so much whats on the floor.

I like aspen as they can tunnel around in it.

Aspen here also, but mine seemed just as happy on kitchen roll

I use Aubiose, love the stuff, you can wet it first and it wont rot but effectively raises humidity. My royal likes to tunnel into it a bit and boris the boa just makes a fine mess shoveling it about! The best thing is the price, about £10 a bail! should last over a year! The down side, its only available from horsey places but not on line or mail order.

I like aspen

I get the bulk bale at £18 odd - BUT if you have an equestrian supplier nearby who does something called Aubiose, this is apparently identical and, if you have storage space, far cheaper.

Aspen is sort of like very fine vermicelli shaped woodshavings; it smells nice and soaks up snake wee well; also they love to burrow in it; something they can't do with kitchen roll. Ziska has a complicated system of tunnels and uses the aspen as 'bedclothes'.

Nothing wrong with beech chippings though - reckon Lady Cora's acting spoilt lol! But confess I do like to give them aspen. Other people and snakes like the orchid bark - all down to preference I guess.
