Sounds ok - caresheet on here says cool end 80f warm end 91 - I only know this as 26c - 32c lol.
The top of Saada's warm hide is about the same distance as your guy's from the heat guard and it's 38c - just pleasantly warm to the human hand - I don't think a damp flannel would come to grief at those temps. |

Fine! Obviously keep an eye to make sure it doesn't dry out to fast and scorch but I reckon it will be ok as your stat should keep temps stable. |

Ok problem got damp cloth, can i place this on top of his hide? But it's about 5-6 inch directly under lamp would that be ok? |

Yes, just damp, and just lay it on top of the hot hide and make sure it stays damp. |

If you don't have moss you can use damp kitchen roll or a surplus face flannel - or any bit of towelling or cotton cloth - in fact I'd prefer these personally as moss can go smelly. Some people do mist but I'd rather not as I feel it disturbs the snake - just my opinion though. |

It does for mine. Only time it didn't (for a corn and gopher snake) was during that freak heatwave at the beginning of Oct, though had no trouble all summer (if you can call it summer here in Wakefield lol.)
Some people on here find humidity in vivs can be a problem during winter when they have central heating on - again snakes have never had a problem, but if your house is very hot, once the snake goes into blue, you could try, in addition to the water bowl, a damp hide (moss, damp kitchen roll or damp face flannel) or what some people do, damping a face flannel and putting it on top of the hot hide, making sure it doesn't dry out of course. |

Could be a good idea to put his water bowl in the hot end near the bulb until after his shed - evaporation will cause higher humidity and make it easier for him to shed - all the best and for the feed too. |

They're all different - try it and see, but if you've no other snake on hand to recycle a refused rat, it'll do the royal no harm to wait until after shedding. |
