I have a habistat dimming stat on my royals viv, and the temp is always at a constant 33.4 and only really goes down to about 33.2, then drops to about 32.4 when the door is opened up, and even then sometimes it doesn't drop as much as that

Just ordered Habistat Dimming Thermostat 600w £36 some £12 cheaper than blue lizard price

can't see the other link.the b1 microclimate stat is an older model to there DL1 stat, which also has an alarm for the same price as the habistat one.

I can't praise the Habistat Dimming stat enough. I have never had my temps wander more than 0.2 of a degree without opening the door, even then it just cranks up the heat until the temperature is back to a steady 32.0 on the nose.

I'm actually just setting up a stat now gradually honing the temperature to where I want it to be (great fun lol)

The temp will stay constant (although stats have been known to drift, grr!) but the bulb will vary in brightness according to the ambient temp in the room - you get used to that lol.
leechaney Posted - 12/11/2011 : 20:57:51
so would the bulb stay on and keep constant temp ?

I think this microclimate is a pound or two dearer from Blue Lizard but - if you order £50 of stuff, like a few spare bulbs, you'll get free delivery ...just got to be crafty eh?

I priced up afew orders the other day, surrey pet supplies still worked out cheaper.

It will dim, going redder and more deeply crimson, when the room temp is high and it may even go completely off and slowly brighten; when the room is cooler it will look brighter and more orangey-red.
leechaney Posted - 12/11/2011 : 19:53:10
thanks i shall look into it, will the bulb stay on or will keep going on and off?
GMac Posted - 12/11/2011 : 16:58:20
as blackskull has said dimmers are the best for light sources.

Matstats arent particularly good for light sources with the constant on and off, pulses likewise for lightsources not so good as has a disco effect with the constant pulsing.

dimmer stat is your best bet, will hold the temps steady
