I am doing my temp checks as its been very cool today even in my flat, I see the ambient reading of 27oC, its normally 24oC at the point furthest from the heater. Weird! I then look at the hot spot temperature, 31oC instead of the always perfect 32oC. OK whats going on here.

I have no lighting in the vivarium at the moment so I can't see whats going on in Duke's viv which is purposefully in a dark area. I get my phone and switch on the torch function. AHHHHH thats whats wrong.

A big fat Python sitting on the probes basking in the glory of the heat bulb which has been cranked up. I decided not to intervene and see what happened, he sat there as the thermometer he was sat on creeped up to the 32oC mark the dimmer halted the heat going any higher, he sat for a little bit and then shuffled out of the direct throw of the bulb.

SO that's Duke's way of telling me 'Rob, I know I have never ever used a hot side hide so you haven't put one in here but could I please have one'.
