As I have only had Freddie since Feb and he has always eaten with me, Im just wondering when do royals normally fast? I offered him a rat yesterday, he sniffed it, licked then buggered off! Left it in over night but was still there in the morning! Is it worth trying again next week or is he fasting? (on a side note I'm not sure if he is a male as the shop didn't know when I bought him)

And another quick one, do royals like climbing?

Thanks for looking!

LOL!

That flexible reptile vine is good - you can get it in most stores, and java wood is gorgeous but expensive. I once bought sash cord from B&Q and plaited it.

I would keep on offering food say once a week, then when I know a royal's fasting (say if it's refused 2 or 3 times) I offer once a fortnight, and I tend to offer a smaller prey item too, which is good because a handy corn or gopher can recycle it if the royal refuses lol, as well as being gentler on the royal stomach if it does get taken ...oops, taking me ages to type this because Shiva is helping me - he's come out again and has enlarged the screen (which I didn't know how to do!) and bounced round the laptop like a whale under the boat! Royals like climbing on computers too!

Is it worth still offering food or just leave him be for a while?

I was thinking about putting some rope across point of his viv for him to climb although looking at him the past few nights he hasn't been very active!

Man snakes are so confusing!

Yes, it's that time of year when they go off the rats and fancy a bit of nookie - and yes they do like climbing - I'm being climbed on by Shiva right this minute!
