Posted - 13/12/2011 : 08:17:10 Since I have had Mister the smallest mice I could get locally were pinkies, so we had been double dropping on the pinkies for a long time but they dont seem to satisfy, leave no little lump and hes always out minutes later lurking for more.
My OH's snake "Missy" is a few months older than Mister and he said Mister should be on the medium mice but they looked a bit big for him...so I got him some smalls, looked big enough to leave a little lump in the biggest part...(ive had the nagging for a while but was stuck with a ton of mousie/rattie pinkys i bought hastily).
Sundays feeding is happening tomorrow as im going away on Friday so snakeys are going to have a boring weekend without me. Coming back home aged 29 :/ BUH!
Really hope Mister isnt spooked by the new mice, will try my hardest to make it appetizing and will see how it goes :) |

Posted - 15/12/2011 : 11:32:03 Congrats - actually even if the smalls are still too small, it's better to move him up gradually so looks like it's for the best, so you and your OH are both right lol. Enjoy all your parties and your birthday! |

Posted - 15/12/2011 : 07:51:03 HEHE I told em i they ever get any homeless snakes, Id be happy to take them. Which in turn also made me think about getting another snake now (damn you animal loving people coming to my door). I look at what I have and I already have so much to look after, getting another snake would be mad right. Well Ive made a promise to myself that I will not buy another snake, If theres a snake just laying in my path and I just happen to fall over it then I may just take that snake home and give it loving. If i had to buy another one it would just get expensive because now I want one of those Soul Suckers...ooooo nice!
Feeding went really well, Carly just ate like an animal like usual...Misters new small mouse after defrosting, being hair dryed and doing the mousey dance he was gone...yet no noticeable lump...again i think ive gone too small and he needs a medium so ill use up all the smalls and then take him up a size...i wouldnt say as much to his face but my OH was right.
So its a busy day now finishing off packing, carol concerts and kids crimbo parties...see yall in a week :) |

Posted - 14/12/2011 : 16:16:49 You do right, Carlycorn - I once agreed to pay a small amount per month to a large dog charity and they promptly bombarded me with glossy magazines and tearjerking twaddle, plus requests for more and more money - presumably to pay their printing bills ...if that money had been used for the dogs and a modest newsletter now and then I would have gone on donating. Plus they sold my name and address to a zillion other charities ... Yes, I prefer to give away unwanted stuff to charity; I'll fill one of those plastic bags they collect from my house - saves trekking up into town with it.
What a nice guy though, interested in snakes, definite point in his favour. |

LOL and proud of it, Boomslang - if we lose the sense of fun and wonder in the world that we had in childhood, then life's a grim business.
I often think snake-keeping puts us in touch with that quality of wonderment, which includes creativity, problem-solving and caring, plus the sense of always something new and an endless learning curve. Caring properly for anything living and learning about it provides us with psychic vitamins. (If that doesn't sound too new age but it's the only way I can think of to describe it.)
Oops off-topic, sorry Carlycorn, and again good luck with his mouse!
HAHAHA to true |

Posted - 14/12/2011 : 07:52:48 No worries bats, competeley off topic, Battersea dogs home came a knocking on my door looking for £2 a month from me from my bank. Now I do charity but in my own way, all my kids clothes that are grown out of go back into the community as well as a lot of videos and dvds that i refuse to sit selling on ebay.
Brave man asked to see my snakes held both my beastly corn and my baby Mister who was quite happy and curious about our visitor. Unfortunately I cant always afford to make money donations to charity, so I asked for perhaps some information to make a one off donation. Guys were so brave, and told me there's a guy up the road that breeds Boas...didnt know that!
Back on topic...yeah Im really looking forward to the feeding today. Im more proud that I watched snakebytestv last week and decided that my beasty corn wasnt going to scare me anymore with the hissing and the tail rattle, so shes been out in my hands every day, only for a few minutes because she just wants to go like a livewire, but im getting there...bought her a habba hut to show my love and now im all spent out on her, shes got to have one of the nicest snake houses ive ever seen...and poor misters in his sorry little pastic tub with a soup box :( but hell learn that from small seeds....trees grow :)
Right ive rambled enough for this morning, this is turning into like a blog lol...
