Hey peeps. Well today was meant to be feeding day. And I noticed my royal was in his hide in the cool end ( first time I've ever seen him in the cool end ). I offered him food but he wasn't interested in the slightest. Could it be possible that he's about to go into his first shed? Or just skipping a feed as I'm aware royals very commonly do. He hasnt gone blue yet either.

Thanks GMac - I've no experience with fauns and it was late at night into the bargain. Brain going to sleep before I did ...

if hes in a faun will be fine moving the water bowl nearer the hot end

Yea he's in a faun. Should I just leave the bowl where it was in the first place then? Cheers :)

Ah - sorry - I just thought, I'm talking about vivs - if your little guy's in a faun or rub this might cause too much evaporation - you don't want condensation running down the sides of his enclosure and you might have to move the bowl back into the cool end a bit to adjust.

But in a viv this should be fine. Sorry about that.

Ok I'll move the water bowl to the warm end. Thank you very much :)

Hi, both are possibilities, and it's interesting that he wants his cool end hide, as that will be the more humid and more help to him if he's going into blue. It won't hurt to put his water dish in the warm end to ensure greater evaporation/humidity, in case this is the onset of a shed.

But any snake can miss a meal for no reason, and most adult/sub-adult royals are indeed starting the great fast.

Time will tell but hope this helps.
