nearly all four of my royals seem to aim for the end of the tongs when they strike, resulting sometimes in the need for a second strike.
I normally use the tongs to hold onto the knee area of the rats rear legs.
Anyone else have this? |

I've known Shahi and Shiva do this. I use very long tongs but I've sometimes wondered if they still sense the heat of my hand, even though I've heated the rat's nose up so well that I'm afraid it'll burn their mouths ...

I have had a feeding response bite from the big girl before, theres no way I am holding her dinner with my hand unless I have chainmail on lol |

i dont use tongs with the big royal just hold ratty by the tail
he usually strikes and gets the neck or a leg an then eats ass first |

Mine is also like that, striking for the butt/tongs. although what is weird is that when my gf feeds with her hand, they, hit the rat perfectly!? |

Could be your tongs are warmer then the food so they are picking up on that heat |

Mine goes towards where the tongs are but always strikes for the throat, very rarely grabs the head... Once he grabbed it by the foot..! |
