Posted - 22/01/2012 : 14:24:47 Hi i looked through the old skin to try and see the eye caps which i could not find,i looked at him is eyes are clear. When he went blue i put moss box in moved large water bowl to hot end and placed damp flannal on his hide aswell as sprayed the plants in his viv twice a day,so i was suprised when he felt dry like greese proff paper the night before he shed.but i did feed him last night aswell would that of made a differance. |

Posted - 22/01/2012 : 14:12:43 Well thats the first one over with anyway, its given you a good idea of what you are required to do. The shed all came off (double check for eye caps and tail tip) successfully but it was just a bit dry which is why it split and came apart so you know a tiny bit more humidity is required. Because its not a lot of extra humidity needed then you could just put an extra water bowl in the hot end, if you make it shallow but large then it will evaporate quicker and raise humidity and also make a play pool for your snakey. I have a dry house so I have to spray the foliage too but I dont think you'd need that. |

Posted - 22/01/2012 : 14:06:10 There's no need to leave it in damp but there's no reason you can't let it dry out and use it as an extra hide, then when he's due another shed just dampen it again.. |

Posted - 22/01/2012 : 13:31:25 Hi jimmer,
Firstly its great that he shed, with no retained eyecaps, but a pity no entire skin for your son. As far as i'm aware Royals don't need high humidity, certainly not all of the time. so in answer to your question I would say not.
I am not the best one to answer as Slinky has yet to even show sign of shedding, only Fea my Boa and Gimli have shed:) |
