Posted - 13/05/2012 : 00:18:21 That bulb is a new one on me too but its just a different type of reflector bulb from what I can see. A 4 foot vivarium will take a while to heat up. I absolutely love my Komodo ceramic bulbs, they have my temps just perfect but they took a few hours to get warm and a few days for everything to get upto temperature and running without having to adjust things, I use 100 Watt ceramics in the 3 foot viva I have except the Royal's as he likes it warmer and I use 150 Watt in that one. |

Posted - 13/05/2012 : 00:09:53 ceramics an IR bulbs can be used on dimmer stats but you cant use a IR bulb on a pp stat as it would look like a disco in the viv no problem |

Posted - 12/05/2012 : 23:47:11 not as far as i know. put the probes in the floor an see what the temps go up to. if its a 50w bulb as in the link i dought you will get the temps up to 32c but should give enough heat for him to be fine for a while just dont feed if the temps are too low. will find a link for the cheap ceramic bulbs i get from ebay for you tommorow, its a good idea to have a spare bulb or 2 lying around just incase one blows an the shops are shut ect |

Posted - 12/05/2012 : 23:32:56 says 'IRA' bulb.. not sure the difference.. i was told it was the same as the IR red bulb, just the colour was different as the viv is in my bedroom. Do IR bulbs give off UV? problem is i have no cash now! |

Posted - 12/05/2012 : 23:29:36 not seen those before you want a ceramic or IR bulb ceramic http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=270825873378 IR (infa red) http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=300643326416&index=0&nav=SEARCH&nid=05456377998 and the stat an thermometer probes need to be on the floor directly under the bulb an guard. you will want a 150w bulb at least for a 4ft viv depending on how warm your house is |

Posted - 12/05/2012 : 23:09:32 http://www.littlebigpet.co.uk/reptiles/komodo-moonlight-bulb-screw-fitting-p-4269.html is what im using, thermostat is on the floor behind the viv, probs is in with the bulb guard.
just read on the bulb packaging, gives off 'moderate output of UVA rays' .. |

Posted - 12/05/2012 : 23:05:06 technically ceramics give off infa red heat. where do you have the thermostat an thermometer probes? also do you have a guard around the bulb? |

Posted - 12/05/2012 : 22:57:26 I've not heard of these being used with snakes, I'd assumed you meant ceramic... (my ceramic bulbs took several hours to 'warm up' when first powered)
Do you know exactly what type it is, as some of these are potentially harmful.
