Posted - 24/05/2012 : 21:17:56 HAHA yey she just needed to build her confidence. Its just part of settling in. You'll not be able to stop her feeding now, as she is shy the no fuss approach will be your best bet, my Royal is exactly the same, a lovely calm snake but very very shy. Only 2 more feeds and you can begin the awesome process of gradually handling her, its another important part of them settling in, helps them realise that you are not a danger to them but its best they are settled in their home first so its why its recommended you wait 3 consecutive feeds. |

Posted - 24/05/2012 : 20:36:17 Right just tried to feed her and a third week in a row she has refused. She seems interested but then chickens out at last minute. She is really really nervous and it seems to be when she see's me. I've tried leaving it in over night but still no interest

Posted - 18/05/2012 : 00:03:29 Yup just settling in, next feeding time try the no fuss approach, defrost the rat, warming them up seems to be a good thing, I put mine on top of the vivarium gets them toastie. Then just before you hit the hay, lay a piece of kitchen roll down in the enclosure near to the hide but not so close you scare her, then in goes ratty then just go to bed, its not a fun way, nothing to see but the excitement that they have fed is worth leaving them to it, I've had a Royal about 18 months and I've seen it feed 3 times, it doesn't like to be disturbed. |

Posted - 17/05/2012 : 22:53:50 2 weeks is nothing to worry about they can take a bit of time to settle in. best bet is to leave her be only going in the viv/rub to change water and spot clean then try again in a week |
