Hey All,

My Royal Python is due for a feed today, but the mice are still frozen, any suggestions?

Been told to defrost at room temp

Ah thanks Meadow - will now try to amend all these off-topic posts (though doesn't explain stuff with sig/profile but hopefully can clean up the thread.)

Thanks!

First of all, my apologies to the original poster as my post is totally off topic but I wanted to help BATS

BATS I think I know what's happened and it's not someone playing a game with you.

The word will be in the profanity filter, so the system picks up those four letters in the word wrist watch (when written as all one word, and changes it to wrist witch (again, all one word).

So it's definitely no-one being malicious, the profanity filter just needs tweaking to add spaces before and after each swear word. (I ran a Snitz forum for several years so know quite a bit about the Admin stuff)

Hugs to you - I hope this explains it

I HAVE Bob, and it didn't. And frankly sick of 'superior' males calling me 'silly'. Jasus I'm ancient royal by now - do know what to do grrrrr and not trying to mess about any more, have spent ages trying to amend/delete but another typo - amended that straight away, enough said. I get the message.
Lotabob Posted - 08/06/2012 : 23:16:21
Haha BATS your such a silly watch lol. Just click the bin symbol(5th one accross) to delete posts or the little pencil symbol (3rd one accross) to amend the post. Right I'm away to witch TV.

Ha - a bit TOO familiar for my liking. Can't amend or delete posts re 'wristwitches' BUT amending another typo was fine.

Someone's playing silly buggers. Perhaps the same someone who reinstated my sig the night I didn't use it because I wasn't sure of Sharif's name. And who also mucked about with my profile at the same time. Which is bloody cheeky and disrespectful imo. 'Mods' please take note.

Bit tired of this, and it's not helping the OP who only wants to know how to defrost a mouse asap.

I reckon its your 'familiar' doing the typing Bats lol

Good luck Luke, a day won't hurt :)

Lol - a while ago realised I've done the same thing tonight - rodent now defrosting but snakes don't wear watches - the little guy will not be pacing the floor and tapping his foot ...
Lotabob Posted - 08/06/2012 : 21:43:41
I personally would avoid using anything hot to defrost your mousey, you can heat it up a bit once defrosted but you could quite accidentally have a nice squishy defrosted warm rat and fail to feel the still frozen core.

I'd go with just wait, have a late night, and feed before bed.

What Bats suggested is the best way, but if I have forgotten to take the mouse out of the freezer, I place it in a freezer bag and sink it in a cup of hot water for 20 mins. Just check that it is squishy and warm before feeding.

Won't hurt to wait for a day. They're best defrosted as slowly as possible. If you're busy tonight, just put the mouse in a plastic bag in the fridge and let it defrost overnight, then bring it to room temp tomorrow and warm the nose before feeding. The snake won't realise it's had to wait another day.

Otherwise let it defrost tonight at room temp for a good few hours, till limp, and then warm the nose and feed.

ps rats are better as they're a more suitable size once the royal's mature. But in the meantime, hope snakey enjoys the mouse!
