At what age do you change from pinkies to fluffies? Our baby is approx 6wks old and fed 3 times on the pinkies, still assisted feeding though! But seems to be more and more active before he is due for his next feed.

HAHA love it.

On a serious note of course its a judgement call based on weight and girth.

First rule being you dont feed them anything fatter than they are, so if the snake has a girth of 2 inches then the rat shouldn't be more than 2 inches around as well.

Next rule is the weight of the prey should be between around 10% of the snakes body weight but no more than 15%.

The first rule overrides the second one though it does seem to roughly correspond.

As you are assist feeding though you are better sticking to smaller stuff to make it easier for you and snakey.

You don't change by age you change by wieght of snake the rule is you feed them 10/15% of their body weight for eg if your snake weigh 500g you would get 50g mice/rat

6 weeks old @500g

What has he/she been fed on? Steak

Best thing to do is pop him on the scales to get a proper weight
