Posted - 17/07/2012 : 16:13:59 Hi guys, got my new setup, ceramic bulb, thermostat etc. The temp in the hot end is steady 31 degrees but in the warm end its now gone up to 25 compared to when i used a bulb. i cant lower the thermostat because the hot end isnt warm enough then. Do i just need to make more air vents?
To add, my royal doesnt seem to ever use the cool so not sure if i should worry. Any advice dudes? |

Posted - 18/07/2012 : 23:43:11 I lowered mine to 30c,and the cool end is still at 27c :) As the room temp is like 26c.
Tiny room where the bulb in the tank is heating the room lol.Plus i have the pc on etc etc.air conditioner would be the only way to make it 100% perfect.
My cold end temps will drop ofc,if it's cold outside etc etc.I just have to mess around with the stat, alot more with this tank. |

I wouldn't worry about it to much.Alot of things can affect it.One of my vivs is the same, mainly due to the room being so hot in the evenings.
Moving the stat probe around can help,if it's not right under the bulb. |

Posted - 18/07/2012 : 18:22:33 If your hot end temp is okay maybe lower the thermostat a bit? That way both sides should cool a little, hot end should still be fine and cool end will be below that threshold. Just an idea. |

Posted - 18/07/2012 : 18:19:34 Didnt think about that Kelfezond. Ill close the doors when I get home then, I suppose if he isnt really using the cool end then what does it matter if they are slightly higher. |

Posted - 18/07/2012 : 17:45:18 Might want to be careful about leaving the door open slightly if she can get her nose just a little into the gap it could end up rubbing and maybe cut her. I'd personally just close it and have the slightly warmer temps. :) |

Posted - 18/07/2012 : 17:42:18 Hi Guys, thanks for the replies
Been checking my cool ends temps, seems to go over 27 sometimes. I have left the viv door slightly open at the cool end, its secure enough that they cant open or squeeze their head through so this should help to maintain temps hopefully.
Trying to get the probe to stay on top of the hide is a nightmare lol... gonna drill a hole in the hide and make a sort of loop with string to hold it in place, but apart from that, looks all good now |

I'm sure Fezza meant F not C lol or he is using his viv to bake muffins
Your ambient temps will flucuate, while everything is getting upto temperature it will be high as the ceramic bulb is REALLY hot, once the hot end gets where it needs to be and the bulb turns down a bit the ambient will drop back down.

Posted - 17/07/2012 : 20:52:10 Oh I completely misread the question lol. Yeah I try to not let the cool end get over 26c - 27c |

Posted - 17/07/2012 : 18:51:41 I don't let my hot ends reach more than 35c unless that's directly under the bulb. |
