Posted - 19/03/2013 : 09:03:21 Hi guys,
Its been awhile I know but thought it time to post a little about the sweetest snake :) Saru, he has never shown any signs of attitude, watches everything..and in my hand pushes his head through my fingers to rest his chin on my thumb lol a little unnerving but oh well. He comes out everyday cept the feeding break..and don't even need a snake hook..he knows the routine.

Posted - 21/03/2013 : 18:13:35 He has grown Badwool, in physical size and personality. I feed him once a week on a small weaner rat..I decided on that method knowing he could possibly grow a little faster, but better that than a hungry Reticulated lol |

Posted - 19/03/2013 : 22:06:33 Just done a weigh in and measure. He is now 530g which is an increase of 235g in 2 months and 4 feet 3 inches which is an increase of 8 inches in two months. Having watched reptileDannys link,I think I'll start wearing chain mail when I take him out. Nah, he's just a puppy. Think I'll get him a squeaky toy and a toilet roll to trail behind him. |

Posted - 19/03/2013 : 17:11:21 he is looking awesome an glad he is still being well behaved agree with reptiledanny you want to keep on tap training, i feel stupid tap training giblet as at the moment the hook is twice as long as him but need's to be done. he would probably try to tag me if i went straight in to pick him up as he come's straight out of his hide to see if im food but a quick stroke on the head calm's him down |

Posted - 19/03/2013 : 15:43:40 That photo uncropped, shows a little of his size..albeit snuggled in Steve's hands lol

Aye Eddie, I will start his training off again :) He's moving into his temporay viv tomorrow or Thurs..just 3' but that'll be fine for a short while :) |

Posted - 19/03/2013 : 15:43:05 sounds like hes got the whole package, looks and temprament. one thing i will say though is i would stick with the tap training. he may not respond to it now, and may look at you like what are you doing, but when hes over 10ft, he may have his stroppy days and the tap training may come in handy. heres a link i found when researching about burms and retics bored at college one day, and is the reason if i ever get a large snake i will tap train no matter what http://burmjunkies.com/showthread.php?7467-****high-def-extreme-bite-damage-pics-inside-no-kids-no-snacking-while-viewing**** obviously this wasnt down to not tap training, but shows what a 'tame' retic can do when they turn suddenly

Posted - 19/03/2013 : 15:39:40 lol Rob, Steve said we'll measure him later but he must be 4' anyway :)
Danny, to be honest I havn't used the hook for a couple of weeks, last time he just peered up at me as if to say 'What on earth are you doing?' lol and the next time he didn't move a muscle. I feed him from the hatch and take the lid off when we pick him up..he knows that routine well.
He truly is a special little guy, loves to be cradled after a brief exploration..I can't fault him in any way. |
