Noticed this on the darkside tonight, rang the lad, and will be collecting an "unknown" Carpet tomorrow at 7pm. Lets hope I don't pass on piggy flu at the same time.

Looks like a nice Jungle to me. We will see.

Wife is seething in the corner of the room, oh well. Better go buy a bloody big rub....

I use a sony a200 with a cosina 1:1 macro (100mm) lens, the Sony HVL42AM flashgun makes getting the pics easier ;)

No idea on weight, but I would hazard a guess (and this is a total guess) that he is circa 3kgs (as he is easily double my royals weight)

I think he is an 06/07, no way to confirm, just started producing sperm plugs last year, so the age seems about right.

small update, he has been measures, 6ft 1". Now turning a nice yellow too, so more jungle in there than was thought:

The general consensus is Jungle Jag Sib (so Jungle x Coastal Jag). Definately a HE, as he likes to leave nice sperm plugs everywhere.....
He seems to love his new 3x2x2 (recommended as perfect for him by a breeder up here), two broom handles across the viv and he loves it:

Also, the main shock, he has turned into the loveliest snake ever, and spends most nights on my shoulders while I play online, happy just to sit there (until he notices Dimitri the MBK and wants to eat him). No agression, nowt. His feeding has dropped to every 3-4 weeks with a medium rat, and he is happy.
Best £25 I have ever spent!

not taken any new shots yet, but he is changing, and for the better. He strikes less often, and kinda doesn't strike so much as try to chew (strange snake). He has gone from a dull and dirty colour to a stronger black and a more yellow/brown markings. He still eats like a dustbin, and WANTS feeding weekly (you really can tell when he is hungry).

Handling is still gloved, but he comes out without biting wildly now (5 mins every day bar the days after feeding). one problem is getting him back IN! He has started fighting when it comes to going back into the viv........as I said, he's a strange snake. Wife still hates him

Just been reading this post Karl. Pleased he's got a good owner like you! How's he been last couple weeks? Any more recent photos to see if he plumping up a bit?

The speed he gets a rat down I rekon you might not be far off the truth. Talking to an american breeder and he rekons Carpets are better off with BIG meals monthly than small weekly, but you never know, what works for one might not work for another. I got a pic of his coastals eating guinea pigs like I do mars bars, lol

now had three feeds in him and he will soon be up to medium rats, small rats are easy peasy for him, and he needs to put some weight on.

Love the name Hope he works out for you and your wife soon get over it
karl Posted - 05/10/2009 : 14:15:00
as Stig refused a small/medium rat last night I thought, waste not want not, and offered Jasper it. Yes, he was hungry, yes he strikes well, and my does he look happy with himself now.

Bet it doesn't take long to get him to good condition
spor Posted - 01/10/2009 : 23:09:01
Oh Dear you are in trouble.
karl Posted - 01/10/2009 : 07:55:43
well, took a rat with no messing last night, so I think some of the aggression may be due to hunger (did I mention it's REALLY skinny?)

Just gotta sort out who goes in what viv now, but will leave it in a rub for a few weeks to make sure it ain't brought any unwelcome friends with it ;)

Definately in trouble though, as the whole reason Sabine was sold was that she didn't want more snakes in the house, then I bring a bigger one in, lol
