My Mum has been scared of snakes for as long as I can remember, even flinching when they were on TV. I've seen her try to touch snakes at shows and stuff, but usually bottles it.

When she heard I'd got a snake she became quite fascinated, asking lots of questions about it, and when she visited on Sunday she was determined to see Ripley. In the end she actually ended up holding him.

I was really proud of her, and she looks so pleased in this picture. This is the first time she's even touched a snake, as far as I know. She even went back for another go later on.

I feel so happy... at the moment my girl and I have single handedly cured 5 people who were terrified of snakes.

In fact, thus far my snake has gone some way to getting my mum to overcome her fear of rats!

Well done andybeta's mum. She'll feel great conquering her fear.

Awww, how wonderful! :) My mom has always had a fascination with snakes, but my grandma is the one who has always been afraid of them. When I got my first snake, she wouldn't come to visit me, but a few years later, she's actually touched them and doesn't mind being in the same room. I don't ever ask her to hold them, but she is always asking me questions and stuff like that. Major kudos to your mom! She's a strong lady to have faced down her fear like that. Before you know it, she'll have one of her own. :D

My mum was the same, she'll now change the water, hold the snakes, but draws the line at feeding them

Awww that is so cool! Hopefully my mum will do the same one day - she can stand in the same room as Penelope, but that's about it for now.

Good on your mum for overcoming her fear!
