she's fine. i've been speaking to a mate about my royal as he's got 7 of them and has kept snakes for over 25 years. he's been giving me advice about her. she'll be left alone for the next 2 days anyway as i'll be away so she's got some time to chillax without be being in the room disturbing her.

You really ought to do what's best for the snake though mate, causing a snake to regurgitate can really cause them harm, its not like a human being sick. Leave alone for 48 hours after feeding to be safe is the best advice.

They are some nice pics. she must be very smart if she is already on the xbox360. What age is she now? had a good chat with my reptile shop today to get a date of them for when they expect baby royals in. 25 CB,s arrive in 2 weeks time, probably between 10 and 12 weeks old when they arrive. So can't wait to get up to Belfast and have a good first inspection when they arrive.

she will be fine, its great watching them strike, but Peanut on occasions doesnt, like when i gave him a black rat...took him ages to decide he was going to eat it..

when i fed him yesterday i dropped the rat it was real close to him, he sniffed all round it then looked at me and bang struck it whilst it was lying on the floor of his viv...

I know he does not mean to be funny or cute but he is...and i love him for it..he will always be my fave royal i suppose cos he was my first...

One of my corns is faster than both my royals..and sneaky, she hits it before you even see her...

But my royals nearly always make me jump...though Peanut is brave now and is only an inch or so away from it when he strikes.

Hi Darren, I was exactly the same when Princess first fed, she moved like lightning and I nearly dropped the tongs!

I'm not an expert, but as a general rule the prey should be as wide as the thickest part of the snake's body. Looking at her head compared to the fuzzy, I think she could take bigger.
theonlydarrenever Posted - 06/05/2009 : 10:32:40
hehe she is! yeah well i didnt really have chance to see it, it happened so fast haha. i turned away for a second and the mouse had been taken! i guess i should have really let her settle in a bit longer but she was happy enough to take the mice so i guess its okay.

i cant wait until next feed!

do you think i should give her 1 rat pup next week, or shall i just stick to the fuzzies? hmm
