Posted - 19/09/2009 : 23:01:22 I will have had Ripley a week tomorrow and he'll be turning 8 weeks old. The first time I handled him at the shop he was quite inquisitive, but once I got him home he was obviously a bit overwhelmed and curled himself up into a ball (awww). I had him out last night, only for about 2 minutes and he was mostly just sat in a ball with his head in a strike pose! But he did better this evening... flicking his tongue lots, looking around and moving a tiny bit. He did keep his neck in a tight 'S' for most of the time, but I'm sure he'll get used to me soon . Here are some photos of him that I took this evening...

Posted - 02/10/2009 : 23:42:44 Indeed... rat fluffs are about the same size as medium mice (from what I can tell). |

Posted - 02/10/2009 : 22:22:49 You can get rat fluffs which are the inbetween bit from pups to weaners |

Posted - 01/10/2009 : 14:23:58 Just a quick question.
I wanna try and get Heffa onto rats, but the small weaners I got, are nearly double the size of the large mice. Is a small weaner the equivalent size for a large mouse? |

Posted - 30/09/2009 : 21:11:08 Last time I tried to feed him a rat he wasn't interested, so today I performed a little 'pinky surgery' and rubbed the blood onto the rat fluff and he took it with no problems. Bless him he yawned a few times after he'd swallowed it... rats are obviously a lot more effort to swallow than little mice! So hopefully now he'll think of ratties as food and he'll eat one again. Glad he's started onto rats now at any rate. |

Posted - 23/09/2009 : 00:07:49 Thanks! I got some rat fluffs today, found some in the shop that I bought him from... don't know why I didn't check there first to be honest. They were only 49p each and I have a loyalty card so I get 10% off frozen and livefood . It's such a nice little shop (Planet Reptile in Swindon's Old Town), I don't think I'll bother to go anywhere else now I've seen the inside of their freezer lol. Lots of variety. |

Posted - 21/09/2009 : 16:03:03 Okidoke... I will try and get some before his next feed then and pop them all in the same bag in the freezer to mix the scents around a bit. |

Posted - 21/09/2009 : 16:01:05 If i were you i would stop the mice asap as they can get addicted to them and wont eat anything else,i still have to scent montys rats with a mouse before he will even take any notice, |

Posted - 21/09/2009 : 15:32:34 Knowing my luck the shop I went to is probably the only one that *doesn't* sell rat fluffs! I'll have to check around. After that thread started by lee2308 about his two boys Monty and Floyd I need to get me some rats... I want to Ripley to grow big and chunky on the ratty goodness like Monty has. |

Posted - 20/09/2009 : 21:26:58 Sorry didnt realise he was on mice - I know rat fluffs are hard to come by - I must be lucky where I am. Try a small mouse you will be suprised what they can manage ;) |

Posted - 20/09/2009 : 21:19:16 He had 2 mouse fluffs 5 days ago and 2 mouse fluffs again this evening. I only have 1 fluff left after that... and 5 small mice. One of the small mice is smaller than the other 4, which I'll feed with the remaining fluff in another 5 days. The smallest rats available were weaners, which were absolutely HUGE. There are 3 different places round here which sell frozen food, I do fully intend on checking the other 2 places to find some ratties for him. |
