He appears to have scales missing under his chin. Usually you don't see this but with a mouse down his throat -




nothing to worry about but i do wonder, will they grow back? who knows.

oh and he decided to eat up........well up there in the branches of the viv?
which help the me noticing as i saw him eat from another angle.

Ever since it was pointed out by (I cant remember) I find it really funny how the scales on the top jaw look like teeth. Like the doggy dentures advert LOL.

When I first saw this in my first royal I thought the same ...

It's actually a little royal gusset - a kind of pleat so that the royal jaw can expand to accommodate the prey.

Every royal has got one. Corns, and I expect other species too, have that little fold under their chin, but it seems more obtrusive with royals.

But, as I say, I thought the same as you when I first noticed it, and I bet loads of other royal owners have done the same!
