Hi all,

You already know my mother, she was looking after my Royal whilst i'm in Afghanistan... Now I can't have him back!! So seeing that Sergeant Andrew Scott is declared M.I.A to me, we toddled down to "Lost World Reptiles" in Teynham and saw a three year old male pastel. Now called Boris, the mad russian spends most of his time in his (Rather sparse for the time being) vivarium periscoping. He isn't quite settled, giving a rather vocal hiss every time the half a tree is lifted and your hand goes near, but he seems ok enough to be picked up. He is very wriggly and inquisitive, probably down to the fact he was in a viv and unlikely to be handled as much! Well, on to pictures...

LOL, Coxcats! I like how you think, though. Son comes home...."Oops, I fell in love with Boris, he's mine too!"....son has to go and get a new Royal. Brilliant idea! :D

I fell in love with Boris! So in October son bought a female pastel. She was 5 mths old. We called her Ria and there are pics of her in another thread. Son has gone back to barracks after Xmas leave and I have Ria here as he is going on a course for 3 weeks. Oh dear! Mwahahaha!

Wow, both are gorgeous. :) Your new Pastel is lovely. I think once it settles in, you'll hear less hissing (hopefully, lol! ;) ). My little Spider female hissed for a good two weeks when I first got her. Now she's sweet as pie and will actually climb up into your hand if you move gently enough. :D

Thats just the camera flash that makes it look yellow. They have a flourescent light each which we only put on when getting them out/cleaning etc and a blue heat bulb.
Tawfik47 Posted - 13/06/2012 : 19:07:55
Hi and welcome to the forum love your setup, but is the yellow bulb a good idea ?
I first was using a normal yellow bulb but Blitz didn't feed until i change it with a red one.
