LOL - well, along with the 'girth' guide, it's the easiest guide to remember, and I don't like to quote something like that without mentioning its originator.

So there.

Kelf I demand you get the girth guide tattoo'd on you and used as your signature. Where is your choice.

Hi, thought it was - I reckon he could take a larger size once he's settled in, bless him. How much does he weigh?

Blackecho's feeding guide recommends 10/15% of the snake's bodyweight, and another good guide is to feed a rodent no larger than the snake's girth. Don't worry about that tiny neck, it expands! And rats are best - sorry, couldn't tell if that was rat or mouse - because when the snake is adult, it's a lot easier to feed one rat than several mice. Rats are also said to be more nutritious for royals too. Recently got 2 of mine on to rats and the lad's getting enormous.

There's no rush, though; he's still settling in. He looks really good.

Good lad - he knows what to do! He's a beauty. If you don't mind me saying so, I think he could eat a bigger rodent than that, too, but if that's what he's used to, let him settle in with another couple of feeds, and then it might be a good idea to move him on to the next size. Looks like you've got a good feeder and that he's settling well with you.
