Just having a read of your comments on youtube, it does look a bit big but when you take into account the mass of fur on that hamster then its probably about right, the guideline is that the prey should be no bigger than the fattest point on the snake (girth). I think the increase in size will be a good idea as it does look a bit underweight, not seriously underweight just a bit on the skinny side (it may be just the angle of the camera but it looks a bit triangular in body shape to me).
As for been hungry dont worry about that, snakes are opportunistic feeders, if there is food there and its safe and the snake isn't fasting for breeding then it will eat it. There is no need to fast a snake before feeding, I think one of those hamsters (the larger it is the longer the gap) every 7-10 days is perfect specially as it is looking a bit on the skinny side, you dont want a snake that is underweight to fast for the breeding season as it may cause health issues.
What substrate are you using in the bottom of the cage? it seemed to really stick to the hamster, some substrate is fine and can be digested, some cant and can cause real problems internally. |
