Right Bob lets hop to it, you've probably read the other interviews since your such a big fan of mine

Rob T Geraghty
lol
I have seen them yes

Stephen Crockford
Why dont we start with what reptiles you have

Rob T Geraghty
OK the list begins, I'll go in order of when they arrived. Spot was the first, an Anery corn snake, I got him almost 2 years ago now, I decided on a corn snake being the first as they are absolutely bullet proof, perfect for a beginner. I got the hang of things quite quickly and was bitten by the reptile bug, I was in the reptile shop and saw a little face poking out from a piece of bark, asked to have a look and fell in love with this chunky little thing so Duke joined the gang.

Rob T Geraghty
Not long after that I decided I would like a Boa but as I live alone I needed something manageable but not too small, the Hogg Island Boa fitted the bill perfectly so Sanke joined the crew

Stephen Crockford
Duke is your enormous royal

Rob T Geraghty
Duke is a big lad yeah, well I say lad. he was sold as male but at just over 4 foot and 1.5kg I am having doubts

Stephen Crockford
Will be fun to find out do you breed any of your reptiles or intend to?

Rob T Geraghty
I had no intention of breeding them when I got them but I think at some point I would like to

Stephen Crockford
It's a brilliant experience!

Rob T Geraghty
It has been suggested that if Dke proves male he would be large enough to put to a smaller burm

Stephen Crockford
I know you keep a load of inverts too would you say you prefer your crawlers to the snakes?

Rob T Geraghty
No, my reptiles and amphibian beat the inverts in the popularity contest, you see little personalities in the spined ones.

Stephen Crockford
So do you have something in mind for your next addition?

Rob T Geraghty
I would love to add a Green Tree Python to the clan and a Tokay Gecko but they are future plans when I can extend my stack with an arboreal section

Stephen Crockford
Oh yes of course your stack looks fantastic I must say

Rob T Geraghty
Thanks, I absolutely love it, everytime I look at it I beam with pride that I was able to make something like that. I just need Hal to hurry up and grow so I can have all the vivariums occupied

Stephen Crockford
That'll be great - we expect pictures when the arboreal sections are done!

Rob T Geraghty
Try stopping me. I love posting pictures

Stephen Crockford
You're in the process of making a thread at TRP for recommending shops - is there a local shop to you that you love?

Rob T Geraghty
I am lucky that I have two to choose from within about a mile from my house, they both have their merits. In fact I have a very good selection of great shops all within an hours drive, suppose thats the good thing about living on a small Island lol

Stephen Crockford
That's brilliant lots of people have to travel very far for a good shop.

Rob T Geraghty
I have seen people taking day trips to their preferred shop, I walk if its sunny.

Stephen Crockford
Will you be attending any of the reptile shows this year?

Rob T Geraghty
I dont think so, I have plans to visit a reptile sanctuary down in the Republic of Ireland next month. I dont think reptile shows would be my cup of tea

Stephen Crockford
That sounds interesting - tell me more?

Rob T Geraghty
It is called Reptile Village conservation Zoo. Its in County Kilkenny and has a good selection of reptiles that would make a great day out, worth the 8 hour round trip I hope
(website if interested http://www.reptilevillage.net/)

Stephen Crockford
That's a long drive I hope you bring a camera!
Well Bob we should wrap up, is there anything you want to add?

Rob T Geraghty
Nope I think you have everything other than get your names down if you would like to write up your favourite shop
Shameless plug

Stephen Crockford
Haha that's okay we'll cut it out
Thanks for taking some time out of your Sunday for us!

Rob T Geraghty
Not a problem.

over 12ft an i would probarbly want someone else there although that would depend on the attitude of the snake

I never handle Pandora without assistance that's for sure.
andybeta Posted - 22/07/2012 : 21:20:00
Very interesting. Thanks both of you.

Is it actually recommended that you don't keep a boa without assistance?
