Posted - 26/10/2012 : 19:08:28 I am worried sick, he was up my sleeve and he's so light I forgot and when the thought of hm crashed down he wasn't there! We hunted under everything and pulled stuff out but no sign. Now I don't know what to do, I could cry and probably will..:( |

Posted - 29/10/2012 : 10:02:13 Try not to treat it like a human Janie will only make it worse, he's most likely perfectly happy wherever he is none of his basic needs will be in danger this soon so he'll more than likely just be curled up somewhere keeping warm. |

Posted - 29/10/2012 : 09:56:17 I got some advise when my corn escaped and at first it seemed daft but it worked. Just stop looking then when u least expect it he will come out from where he is hiding and give you a nice surprise. I done it and few days later she just came out and laid in middle of front room as if to say I'm ready to go back home now lol |

Posted - 29/10/2012 : 08:51:00 Not giving up, Steve is gonna lift a floor board today :) My worry is that he's likely not just lost, he could have found his way under the boards, and he's too small to climb back out. Hoggies aren't good climbers at the best of times, but under ther is at least a 12" drop. It dwells on my mind that he wants to come home, but can't and its kiling. |

Posted - 29/10/2012 : 08:35:33 As others have said, don't give up. Snakes are hardy creatures you know, they can go without mummy for a while ; )
Keep leaving nice stinky rats out in a trap. Snakes like easy meals.
I know it's not quite the same thing, but my mam lost her Corn when she was young. She was devistated, never stopped looking. He'd been missing for three months, then one morning, in winter, she found him... under the front door mat. She said he was like a draught excluder all straight and still. He was very cold, but after a nice warm up and a good feed he was good as new. Didn't effect him at all in the long run.
And even less the same thing. I had two hisser escapies the other week. But even they found their way back home in the end. Seemed once they were sick of being hungry and cold they came back home : )
Anyway, the point is that you shouldn't give up. He'll turn up evetually, probably feeling silly and quite sorry for himself as well. |

Posted - 28/10/2012 : 10:18:10 Don't give up on him set some traps as described when he's hungry he'll come hunting if he found his way down a small gap somewhere he'll find his way out maybe just have your heating turned up for a week so he's warm enough if he's still hanging around |

Posted - 28/10/2012 : 10:02:28 I don't think we'll find him now, too many gaps he could get under the floor boards :( I get chills everytime I think of him |

Posted - 27/10/2012 : 12:13:27 as bluedragon says make a load of bottle traps with a pinky in each one http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/forums/snake-care-sheets/73850-lost-snake-wanna-know-how.html look at the places near where you had him if it looks too small check in there as the can get into tiny little spaces. fingers crossed the little fella turns up soon. can remember if you have a cat or dog if you do watch what their looking at/smelling in the room as they will notice something is there before you do |

Posted - 27/10/2012 : 11:58:39 I'm sure he'll turn up, don't worry too much just yet.
The idea about Hamster bedding is a good one. Ask for bedding from their 'toilet corner', this'll be nice and stinky with wee and the like.
Another idea is, of course, to use a nice stinky defrosted rat/mouse. Leave it in the warm somwhere all day. You won't like the smell but I'm sure Henry will love it ; )
Either way use the bucket trap trick to keep him there once he's found the stinky thing.
I know you said you striped the sofa, but he could well still be in there somwhere. So don't discount that yet either. Be careful when you sit down!
Good luck : ) |

Posted - 27/10/2012 : 09:44:29 Thanks Kelf,
In that moment my mind wasn't on him, and I can't even say he escaped, I dropped him and didn't notice :( |

Posted - 27/10/2012 : 02:13:10 If you think you know where he Might be hiding, try this trick......it worked on my cousins garter snake who kept escaping. If you have a pet shop near you, ask if you can have some used hamster or gerbil bedding (sounds crazy but they will do it for you). last thing at night, put some of it in a small open ended box near where you think your snake may be hiding. The scent from the bedding will eventually draw the snake up, expecially if its near a radiator where the warmth will help the smell to attract your little wanderer. Good luck! |

Posted - 26/10/2012 : 22:04:08 No we stripped the sofa..he was up my sleeve and I was mostly in the kitchen. I have a bad feeling about it, if he sought darkness he could easily fall down small plumbing holes under the floorboards, in which case chances of finding him are slim. :( |
