Last nite at work someone asked me what it is I like / love about keeping snakes as they said " well they dont do alot , you cant stroke them like a cat and they dont come to you when you call"

That all may be true , but i just find them truely fascinating! watching them eat with no hands! Shedding and the Shed cycle , the way they feel and the differences in character .

So what do you love about keeping snakes ?

Ill touch on what kelf said. I love how they have their own individual little traits. And seeing them strike at their food. Also I love how even though I've kept snakes for 5 years, I still learn something new every day :)

Not sure about not being able to stroke like a cat//lol Ra our Beauty snake arches into your hand if you rub his back and stays perfecty still. The Boas both love their chins rubbed and Slinky enjoys his read rubbed hehe

Keeping snakes in general if I'm honest I love having a collection, it's probably the worst reason for somebody to want to keep more than 1 animal and can lead to overcrowding and animal hoarding but I can't help it lol I love knowing I have these different kinds of snakes, I sit up dreaming of different genetics and morphs I can breed with my collection and expand!

However individually I've always found it amazing how snakes have personalities so easily distinguishable, I've always said if all my snakes were the same colour and size I'd be able to tell 90% of them apart in a 5 minute handling session - if the days comes when I have so many snakes I can't know them by their traits I'll admit I've got too many :)
