Maybe a bit of a daft question, but why are females more expensive than males?

They're not always, lower end females are generally more expensive as Jono says because they can breed.

However high end morphs the males are more expensive due to the fact they don't have to wait 3-4 years and get upto 1500g to breed, they can normally breed after a year at a low weight.
