I fed CC 2 days ago (1 large mouse) and he seemed a little too active for a snake who had recently eaten so I fed him another mouse today.
He then proceeded to drag the little blighter to his water bowl, give it a soak then dragged it off again and ate it 
Has anyone else's snake done this???
p.s the reason he's on mice and not rats is because every time he tries to eat rats he can't swallow them, then regurgitates them, tries again and so on and so on until he gives up. |

So are the Rats your feeding him the same size as the Mice he's used to? You can get baby Rats and they come in the same sizes to Mice.
If he's funny with Rats, but is obviously willing to eat them (which is great news), then maybe it would be a good idea to start off with a smaller that usual size? So give him a Rat, but smaller than the size of Mouse he's used to. This might get him used to eatting Rats.
But you do need to weigh him first. The older and bigger a Royal gets the less he/she needs feeding. It might just be that he's still full off his last meal.
P.S. I wouldn't worry about the dipping his meal in water thing. Tig did it more than once and I just figured he wanted a bit of sauce with his Rat X ) |

I don't know his weight, the scales we use have got too small to keep him in so we're going to have to get bigger ones.
I DID try him on small weaner rats (those are the ones I tried him on) and as I said before, he ate the smallest one but struggled after that. :(
I'll give them a try, and try to introduce them slowly. |

couple of quick questions for you, do you know the weight of your snake, you ideally for royals want to be feeding 10-15% of their body weight you say you fed him on small rats, the small rats I use weigh from 95gm to 150gm roughly, I have never used mice before so am unsure of the weight but from looking around on frozen sites I can see they are roughly around 40gms max, so if your snake is eating a mouse of that size i doubt very much he would be able to manage a small rat. the direct match for these would be small weaner rats. give those a try for a while and see how you get on. |

The thing is, is that he's eaten a small rat before (I bought a pack of small rats, the one we fed him was the smallest in the pack) and he ate that but the next week we gave him another small rat (it was only slightly larger that the one before) and he couldn't eat it, he kept regurgitating it. :( |

Sounds like your following the advise I heard about concerning regurgitation. Leave for seven to ten days then feed on smaller mouse/rat then gradually work up to their normal food size over the next few feeds. Have never experienced this but came across the advise on snake bytes I think it was. |

My royal never does this but my other snakes do, maybe you should try smaller rats then you offered before and work up to his correct size. |
