I can't wait for this day to end! This is my third blooming 15 hour shift covering four different sites where I'm covering my Dad who is on holiday, so tired and it's really shown me how difficult it is to sort out all the reptiles while working fulltime hours, would just not have managed it without help!

It's got me thinking - how much do you guys work and how many reptiles do you have? What do you think your limit would be? Do you sort out your reptiles alone or do you have help from family or friends?

Right, lets see. I leave for work at about 9 on a Tuesday morning and get back at about 10 on Thursday morning, 30 days later.
Fortunatly, Jane is at home to give the troup plenty of attention when i'm not there.
Still at least its always sunny down here.

Normally i leave for work around 7:30 and get home 5pm(2pm on fridays) but at the minute my work has me on shifts so one week working 6am-1:30pm the next week at 1:30pm-9pm so its a bit of a pain on the late shift as also have my little boy to look after but not too much hassle as I've got most of my snakes on a weekly feed on Sunday with only 3 of then every 5 days i change water every couple days and check for mess every morning and night when on my normal shift i normally spend about an hour a night with the snakes every other night the leos get fed

luckily my Mrs helps.

I'm lucky. Well not really but the reptiles are. Whilst I was working I never had the time for myself. Let alone anything else. Working 15/16 hour days in London city running my business making sure jobs were handled n running well etc but since I ended up in hospital in June and then diagnosed with a form of ME at 21 lol I haven't worked for past few months. So I took a moment and decided to get reptiles as I always wanted some. So now I'm home all time they have my care 247. For when I go back to work I'm going to look at a less stressful and more routines job. As my body can't take. So yeah. But my partner and partners daughter will handle the bearded and royal for me. But not to keen on my boa yet lol so I have the help but I don't use it. I enjoy to take the time n handle them myself.

I leave at half six in morning and get back at half five so I spend some time with my two girls then have dinner at seven when they are in bed then after that I sort all the animals out and handle them

Can't imagine how much the ferrets must be but I love hearing all your stories about them! lol
richard v Posted - 11/02/2013 : 10:12:30
Well where do I start, I get up at 6 leave home around 6.30 after checking everybody, my other half leaves with me, we both get home around 7ish, in my care we have 10 ferrets, which we have to give a run around when we get in no matter what the weather which takes us to around 7.45, then the reptiles start, we have 1 boa, 2 burms,1 Royal, 2 tortoises, 1 chameleon who requires daily medication, and 1 cat. I check them over everyday and get them out on alternate nights I don't need to much help with the snakes other than the boa. I generally sit down and relax with my dinner at around 9,so really don't get to much time to myself. I think we are at our limit now. But it's worth it.

I know what you mean.

When I moved a couple of months ago my routine went completely up the spout, and its only settled back into line now lol.

My proposed Hamm additions might change everything with getting them settled and feeding ok etc

Dunno why I get all the worse pet back-end-product jobs
Kelfezond Posted - 11/02/2013 : 10:02:37
Sounds like you've got your routine set nicely!
I try to keep the feeding days regular but I always end up skipping days here and there because of either previous missed feeds or sheds or moves or whatever and before I know it I have 1 or 2 snakes due every day of the week lol
Leucistic Posted - 11/02/2013 : 10:00:35
I leave for work at 7ish and get home usually by 6ish monday to friday.

I only have whats in my sig, but will be adding more after Hamm maybe another 1 or 2 lol. But I think that will be my limit (I say this now haha)

I get to do it all on my own, well all the messy stuff anyway. The missus likes the easy handling non messy parts. I usually get in and whilst the missus is cooking dinner I do my spot checks and any other bits and bobs, usually handle later in the evening. Wednesday is snake feeding day.

I think it would be a struggle if I had to do shifts as it would mess up my routine
