Posted - 15/02/2013 : 15:41:24 Well as above guys, just wanted some opinions:
My Loki is growing fast and will soon need to transfer him to a larger enclosure, he is currently in a xl faunarium. My king is in a nice big viv, so I am torn what to do. Rack my royal(s) or viv stack them next to my king.
Now for the price of a new viv (the new vivexotics are soooooooo pricey now), I could build a rack (I already have all the equipment stats, mats etc). I would only need to buy and build a frame and some wood for the shelving or simply convert a ikea pax unit.
Bare in mind I am heading to Hamm next month and plan to buy maybe a couple of new royal additions.
But I obviously want the best for my royals long term futures, and help and advise is most welcome.
How you you guys keep your royals?
Apologies in advance as I know this thread has been more than likely done to death lol |

Posted - 16/02/2013 : 08:42:06 I keep all my Royals in lidded RUB's (9,18 and 33 litre boxes). I house them in an Ikea Pax rack which works very well!
As others have said RUB's are perfect as they hold heat and humidity well and are easy to clean! |

Posted - 15/02/2013 : 17:59:51 HEHE ^^, i use 35" x 11" on the 33lt rub rack, and i believe they are the same floor space just diff heights. The mats are Habistat ones i got from http://www.livefoodsbypost.co.uk/reptile-heat-mats-339-c.asp , best priced site ive found for mats and thermostats especially ;)..The plugs are moulded, but a new plug is easily attached if needbe, done a few myself. |

Posted - 15/02/2013 : 17:48:02 what size mats do you use under the 33lt rubs jebus. will be building a rack in a few months but using 50lt rubs, think im right in saying the 50lt rubs have the same floor space as the 33lt just taller. also what brand are your mats and does the plug come off ore are the plugs moulded ones?
sorry to hijack |

Posted - 15/02/2013 : 16:45:45 Now thats what I am talking about jebus. Love the look of your homemade racks.
The single stack under the hatchling rack what size rubs are those? are you using lidless or with lids?
Sorry for all the questions lol |

All my royals are housed in RUB's, I have found them to be healthier and eat better than when I had my first two in viv's....Hold temps great, humidity, everything you want! All my racks are just custom built by myself..only snake I house in a Viv is my boa, as he tends to be the more active of the 9 ;)
(Also the added bonus of the rack is if it isn't full, its just too handy to bring home a few new additions without having to worry where there going:) )
Excuse the mess, life is too short to tidy. |

Posted - 15/02/2013 : 16:28:23 I use ikea pax wardrobe with 12l and 50l rubs it has to be the easiest of the rack options if your not a diy god lol 12l rubs fit 3 per level perfectly and the 50l are 2 a level but overhang the shelves slightly i also have a 3ft viv incorporated in the rack too |
