hi, has anyone came across a cheap 3d viv background like the exo terra ones for a 4ftx2ft viv (60cmx120cm)

I have the exo terra one in my 3ft viv and happy with it but doesn't seem to go up to the 60x120 size.

Thanks

Nice one. Sand off any sharp edges, slate can be a bit sharp but it's easily smoothed.

i pick up the viv tuesday but it wont have anything in for about a week so plenty of time for fumes to go! im having a mate that works with plastics make me something to slot into the back and stick the slate to that so it can be easily removed for cleaning or if i just want to change it

Yeah aquarium grade silicone is good BUT it's really kicks up a load of fumes, so the viv needs to be unoccupied and aired for a good few days. I'd be tempted to use a non toxic super glue. I'll have a look at the stuff I have used for my runners, it's quick setting and fume free.

That's a good idea! I think I might have a go at that! Would be a lot easier than the grout etc. Would you fix the slate with silicone?

Another DIY option is go to B&Q and buy yourself some slate or other thin stone tile and just tile it. I'm working on a themed design in each of my vivs and slate is going to be one of them.

Those are the ones I've been looking at! I don't know if I can bring myself to spending that much on a background though!

This one should fit nicely

Heres a different design (nicer in my opinion)

yea thanks for that, ive looked at a few vids on making my own but id rather just buy one than do all that. might have to buy 2 smaller backgrounds and put a hanging plant over the joint

Get yourself a bin bag, a pack of squirty filler and some grout and make your own.

Tape bin bags to the shape of the vivarium back, fill with filler, leave it to dry, shape with a knife. Grout and paint, varnish and job done.

Or just buy a sheet of polystyrene and avoid the messy spray filler bit. Check kelfezonds videos for his vivarium background.
