Since this is first time I've used ceramic bulb in a viv I've noticed how warm the top of viv above bulb gets, its around 90f to 110 directly above it so i was just wondering do any of you guys use this heat for heating small enclosures for spiders or smaller reps?

I found the tarantula keeper's guide book the best thing I bought, very helpful, and the otther dark side forum on spiders is very helpful.

I use mine to defrost rats! The other day I put a lid on the pot I usually use and then forgot about them. Oh the smell! Marvellous! Snakeys liked it though!

with avic's you need lot's of ventilation in the lid, around the top of the setup and at floor level
this was my old avic's setup, can see the ventilation i put in the tub

avic's tend to make tube web's up on branch's/cork bark ect.
to be honest most T's will be fine at room temp just stick the tank's on the opposite end to the heat source on the viv

I left a rat defrosting in a tub on there and fell sleep and forgot about it. Wasn't a pretty sight... Or smell

Lol :) might be hard to control the heat on warmer days etc.

Might be an excuse to go out and buy a spidey :-)

my bull's an tai beauty snake were heated for a while by the heat from the viv's/ceramic's below, worked fine but need an air gap or it was too hot for them as they only need 29c an around 26c

I use it to defrost mice and rats. I put them in an old ice cream container first!
