Well the rents have caved and are giving me my birthday/Christmas money early so I can go get my snakey on Friday. I've got everything set up and waiting. I'm popping up to Warrington to check theirs out, I've been before and the shop is great.

Although I did see onset day that was very nice. But I was a little worried (possibly newbie-ness) about her size. She easily fit in the palm of my hand, not balled, and is supposed to be 7 months old. She was a tiny thing. Also, they said she couldn't go until she'd eaten (fair enough), but I wasn't sure if that was at all. I mean I know their picky but not eating ever and being 7 months old!

What do you think? Also, she weighed nothing, well you know what I mean, if I closed my eyes I wouldn't know she was there, bar her climbing all over me

I'm just too excited!!

Both my royals came from Warrington pets, have no complaints about them whatsoever...

Congrats :)

I got my first royal a couple of weeks ago from Warrington pets and exotics... they seem to have a good reputation around here and they must know a lot about royals since they have so many!

I picked up my first snake yesterday. I'm so happy! She's a very pretty little girl from Warrington Pets and Exotics, and looks very happy and healthy. I'll get up pics ASAP!

Aww what an exciting time. As awful as it sounds you need to avoid the non eaters, it may be a birth defect preventing it eating and it will sadly die eventually.

If you want a little one then hatchlings should be hatching around now, if they don't have any right now they soon will as all the breeders have eggs on the go at this time of year.

I would check to see that it is captive bred rather than wild caught.

The shop should have a feeding record, ideally you want it to have taken 3 feeds in a row just to show it is eating well.

You can also check the snake over for any cuts, kinks or mites. I would also check out round the eyes and mouth, check the nostrils and make sure they are clean.

After all that you should have yourself a nice healthy snake.

That sounds way too small for 7 months royal. Mine was 7 month when I got him and was about 30" long

Does sound very small for a 7 month old royal. It cant have been eating. If this is your first snake then a royal that isnt eating is gonna be a lot of stress. Try and find out a bit more about it. The shop should have been keeping a feeding record so you can see if it has been eating.
