Anyone have any information on this?

I no there's a lot of press going round.

I found one of these but would like to confirm if anyone can help me.

What you have there is a lace web (Amaurobius similis). Not a threat to humans and found in almost all homes.

The false widow thing is madness. It's been a very warm and abundant summer which has lots more spiders surviving and lots more now looking for somewhere for the winter. False widow venom is actually mild and although the bite itself can be a painful experience it is only allergic reaction that poses a threat.

Yeah I no. All the pics I found on Google n things the people have been bitten from. Just looks similar. Found it in my house. On the sofa. So I captured in and currently in a cup with cling film over the top. With few holes In.

it does look similar to a false widow spider, the one in the first pic on this page look's similar just slightly different marking's on the abdomen
