Well i know i can't name and shame but you will probably work it out anyway lol
im not to happy about being ripped off with the purchase of my kayuadi retic at the time i paid the deposit in store it was marked up at £175 but was told by the bloke that was a special price for purchases that weekend only and that they were going up after the weekend to £250 so i paid the £50 deposit in the knowledge id have to pay the full price as i wasn't paying all that day which was fair enough, although he did say as well that id have to pay £45 on top of that for them to take it to doncaster for me to collect which i thought was a bit much since they were going with their animals anyway but hey ho im not one for confrontation and i just wanted the snake lol. so after a week i called the store to pay the remainder and was told i had £200 left to pay and id pick up from their table at doncaster which i was pleased about as i thought i didn't have to pay courier charge. Then in the time leading up to doncaster i was searching classifieds on the dark side and came across their stocklist and lo and behold it was listed as £175 which had been posted 2 month before the day i was in the shop paying the deposit which i thought was strange as i was told it was a special price for that weekend only but like i said i don't like confrontation so just left it thinking they may have been planning on increasing the price after the weekend but today they have just posted a stocklist on fb listing the other male still at £175 so im not happy one bit and will not be using them again.

Just needed to get that off my chest and maybe warn others if you work out who im on about

Huh, didnt realise that. Ive actually never been. I really want to, but that means making an excuse for a trip to blackpool and given im not a fan of the pleasure beach its quite hard.
carlb1981 Posted - 08/10/2013 : 07:11:57
They fell out so bhb doesn't deal with them anymore
jonnyc1988 Posted - 08/10/2013 : 06:12:38
Would cost you more than £50 in petrol to get back to the shop though. It is a shame they couldnt just give you the cash.
It does sound like it is one member of staff making a bit of extra cash. Who knows, maybe they pocketed it for themselves....

Its a shame because I regard it as a very respectable shop. Probably the only one in the UK to feature on snakebytes TV.

Yeah just ask for the £50 in cash etc :P be polite and shortish as you've already explained the whole thing. The law is on your side without going into it,plus a good place would have just refunded you in the first place.

No point really making a huge deal from it,if they refund you great. If not, just don't shop there again :)
carlb1981 Posted - 07/10/2013 : 21:23:31
Think I'll just reply with another email rather than phone, im too soft to argue with someone on the phone lol tbh the guy who replied I've dealt with before and he seems ok where as the other im not too keen on there is just something about him
boomslang Posted - 07/10/2013 : 21:16:24
Well sorry but thats kind of a sh*it reply then.So they kinda did what i said then, randomly adding money onto things when they think they can boost sales/get more money from a customer lol.

And to boot, the guy that replied said he hasn't a clue really and oh well.they should of gave you a refund end of story.Seems like a bunch of clowns :P
carlb1981 Posted - 07/10/2013 : 21:08:05
Not really no, i wasn't even expecting getting a reply from them and i don't really want to call them either i was just hoping they could shed some light on the situation but as he said he doesn't know what happened on the day it seems like the sales assistant has just added money on to make more in a sale
boomslang Posted - 07/10/2013 : 21:03:20
Okay, was just asking if you no they'd keep their word on it etc.you might not buy anything for months, years or even lose the email.I'd rather have the £50 in hand.

Would you really want to buy from them again anyway?
carlb1981 Posted - 07/10/2013 : 20:55:03
No I've just got the email if i wanted to order another snake id just reply to that email so they could see what they had said
boomslang Posted - 07/10/2013 : 20:45:17
Yeah i agree,as you might not even buy another snake.More so another snake from them,Which is probably what they hope.
Have they given you anything to prove this £50 discount,Could be ages before you buy anything else.To which this discount might be forgotten about.
anatess Posted - 07/10/2013 : 19:04:56
Well, at least they are trying to correct the wrong. But $50 towards a future purchase is bull. $50 cash sent to you marks a good business. Yes, they're not legally required to give you back your money. But a good business will admit their mistake and correct it immediately.

I still say this business should be crossed off you guys' list.
carlb1981 Posted - 07/10/2013 : 18:40:10
Lol not just yet no
jonnyc1988 Posted - 07/10/2013 : 17:53:36
so have you bought another retic with that £50 discount?
carlb1981 Posted - 07/10/2013 : 17:51:11
I have received a reply which says he doesn't know what went on when i paid the deposit and has offered £50 off my next snake to keep my custom and if im not happy to call them.
boomslang Posted - 07/10/2013 : 16:55:56
If a place like tesco listed apples at 40p each.then charged you 60p at the checkout, there in the wrong.same as when they listed buy two for £1.99 deals, when each item solo only costs £1.80 etc :P you get the idea hehe.
Lotabob Posted - 06/10/2013 : 20:00:53
There are regulations for anybody selling anything governing the use of sales and special offers but really although not exactly good business practice you entered into a quite clear purchase agreement and completed that sale without query. Your best bet though for any comeback would be your citizens advice bureau or even trading standards, if they're doing that often TS may already have a file on it.
boomslang Posted - 06/10/2013 : 04:00:49
Hope you sort it out :)Seems abit odd to have it listed for £175 months back, then tell you it was only a special price for afew days.

List prices, but change the price when someone wants to buy.If you think you can scam more money out of them.As for £45 to pick it up lol :P

If it was clearly listed as £175 in the shop, then they said to me they wanted £250 i'd have walked away.you yourself have found evidence that the £175 wasn't just for afew days.
richard v Posted - 06/10/2013 : 00:05:50
Sounds good, hope they sort you out
