Posted - 08/11/2013 : 10:52:25 I currently use these: http://www.reptiles.swelluk.com/reptile-supplies/reptile-lighting-415/reptile-light-fittings-487/swell-ceramic-lamp-holder-325205.html I usually just tack the cable to the roof of the viv But in my big viv with the 250w ceramic bulb, the tacks have got so hot they have bent and dropped the bulb. I've managed to tack it back up but it will only be a short term fix (the last set of tacks lasted 3 months). So I need a different type of bulb holder. I was looking at these: http://bit.ly/17crbsE but with a 250w bulb, will this burn the top of my viv? I am using a big Exo terra 250w, not the slim ones. Thanks |

Posted - 09/11/2013 : 16:42:39 Them holders are made so they fix via a hole in the roof.Hence why that plastic bit can screw off. There abit outdated, the ones with screw holes in the holder itself are better :)
Why not just buy a bracket, screw that to the roof and all done :)

Posted - 08/11/2013 : 15:35:10 The holder is on a wire and doesn't attach to viv at all, so I have the wire tacked to the ceiling of viv, but due to size/weight/heat the tacks are falling out. |

Posted - 08/11/2013 : 14:50:22 What are you trying to do? The tacks are falling out of the holder? Or the ones on the lead are falling out? Or you using tacks to hold up the whole thing? |

Posted - 08/11/2013 : 13:53:38 I use the ceramic bulbholders that screw directly to the roof of the viv and obviously have the heatproof cable slightly sandwiched so to speak between the holder and the viv, then p clips holding the cable to the roof. |

Posted - 08/11/2013 : 11:34:00 What tacks are you using? I have a 200w lamp and mine are fine. I use just normal cable clips |
