As the title states really.
Anyone on here done it or in progress of breeding mealworms?
Gonna start to attempt it in next couple of weeks. Worth a try at least. |

I tried superworms,same kinda thing lol :P was going to feed of the beetles :) as something alittle different for them.But they didn't like the worms or the beetles. |

I originally started separating the mealworms into different tubs per stage but it's just too much hassle and you really don't need to. |

I have had mealworms, silk worms, wax worms, beetle grubs, roaches,crickets and locust. They're all a massive pain to keep clean but meal worms were by far the easiest to breed and produced the most food but smelled most of the time. Dubia roaches were also pretty productive and were the easiest to keep from smelling but with a longer life cycle getting food upto size takes longer. |

I only tried breeding them,as abit of fun hehe :) didn't use enough of them to make it worth doing. |

with the mealworm's i just leave them all in the same setup an take some out when needed.
the morio worm's have to be separated into little pot's so they pupate into beetle's them put them together an hopefully they should breed |

yes as kelf said it's a pain to get the tiny one's out of the dust at the bottom
here is my mealworm farm
and this is a similar setup for breeding morio worm's although their not as easy to breed, got quite a few adult's in there but no baby worm's that i can see

Aye I do as well, same method as Chrisc it takes care of itself only difficult thing is keeping it clean when the worms are tiny as they fall through most sieves |

yes im breeding mealworm's take's a while for you to get them big enough for feeding.
ive got them in a faunarium and all i did was put about 1" of bran in the bottom then chucked a couple of tub's full of worm's/beetle's in there
any veg that the lizard's don't eat get's split between the mealworm's and the dubia roaches, will post a pic of the setup later |
