Posted - 13/01/2014 : 19:53:19 Hi All - long time no post! My normal royal python, Honey, bought in May at 43cm and 58g, was 85cm and 461g at Christmas and had fed, shed and poo'd like magic throughout. She's now fasting (I'm not panicking, honest!) and is down to 421g. On New Year's Day (Happy New Year everyone, by the way)I returned from a 5-day visit to family and the next day took Honey out of her viv to 'hang out' for a while. I was sitting with her in my hands, when she started poking and rubbing my shirt with her nose. Two minutes later the skin was off her nose and jaw and she continued to shed in my hands and inside my shirt ( I was a bit nervous, as she has been known to poo during her shed!) Afterwards she looked gorgeous, I was able to unravel a complete shed and I was very pleased to have shared in what I had always considered to be a very 'private' moment! Maybe you more experienced keepers will burst my bubble and tell me it happens all the time, but I prefer to think that Honey is particularly relaxed with me (I'll not use the word 'trust' - she is a reptile!) So that's it really, Honey's story brought up to date - I'll keep you posted on the fasting - bye for now! |
