if the mat is controlled by a stat you should be ok...
have you got substrate on top of the mat?
if so how much?

Posted - 06/07/2009 : 20:56:25 dial thermometers are pants, digital thermometers are more accurate, and sorry thermostats are a must on all heat sources, despite what the temp may be now, tomorrow or the next day, there's nothing stopping the heat mat from malfunctioning. having a gap between the tank and mat makes zero difference. |

Posted - 06/07/2009 : 20:46:20 Yes a dial one.it's the small mini stat. I have taped the mat to the bottom of the outside of the tank with the prob betweenthe mat an the tank. I am a little concered incase this may cause hot spots. On my corn tank the mat has a gap between tank an mat am just wondering if this is why it dosen't have a stat :) |
