Posted - 13/07/2009 : 22:24:41 Sorry to bring this to this forum,
but has anyone got worried yet?
a doctor at my practice died from it..and now they are talking how this strain resembles the one that wiped out millions at the turn of the century..
I am now thinking we could be in deep deep trouble this winter when the germs normally tend to go wild... |

Posted - 15/07/2009 : 13:49:18 I had what I'd called flu many times, which turned out just to be a bad cold- I didn't know what hit me when I got a real flu. It was awful. |

Posted - 15/07/2009 : 13:38:49 Someone at Barnsley (Stairfoot) B&Qs got it - and me and Lewy bought insulation there that day
(and I'm still not concerned. I've had normal flu and wanted to die because I felt THAT bad, so it can't be worse than that really) |

Posted - 14/07/2009 : 08:47:33 What BE and Paulus said, far more people die from normal flu or crossing the road.
Paul: Not seen you on TRB yet, Kaz gave us our own "other boas" section and everything! |

Normal flu kills about 4000 a year in the UK.
Symptoms for most people will be very mild.
The GP and the kid that died are being "investigated" further just to ensure that they didn't have any underlying conditions.
Yep, the normal strain of flu is far more dangerous than swine flu.
I'm not worried at all. |

Posted - 13/07/2009 : 22:40:31 Yes and no. Im not worried about it when I think of my everyday life, but im a proper little girl when I get ill (really rarely thankfuly!) and man flu syndrome kicks in.
The "normal" flu must kill people quicker? |
