Posted - 19/07/2009 : 12:27:03 Its getting closer..... Got myself a RUB to kit out, getting my wee Royal now in a couple weeks (maybe sooner) so wanted to make sure everything is set up and sorted first.
This is my first ever snake so im quite excited! Im gonna use kitchen roll as a substrate just now till it grows a bit, get a wee heat mat and thermostat, two small hides and a cool looking piece of wood.
Anything Ive missed?

Posted - 24/07/2009 : 15:41:29 Is it ok if I get one for a slightly bigger RUB but have some of the mat sticking out from under the warm side of the RUB?

Posted - 24/07/2009 : 15:32:43 You need a warm side and cool side to your viv so you dont want to be over 50/50. Most recommend a heat mat that covers 1/3rd. |

Posted - 24/07/2009 : 15:28:17 Hey peeps, what would be the best size of heat mat for me to get? No point buying a tiny one if its goingt o get outgrown really quick.... Also at what stage in a royals life would I change it to a ceramic heater?
cheers

Posted - 19/07/2009 : 14:44:51 The one ive got just now is about a 30cmx15cmx15cm is that too small? Its just a hatchling im getting, the breeders holding onto them just now though till theyve started feeding etc.

Posted - 19/07/2009 : 13:54:42 Hell I think even I would be happy in there haha mine's a good bit smaller but Ive heard thats fine for a small snake as they dont like too much space. Ill get some pics up when I get my new son or daughter :-)
Thanks a lot for the help.

Can you recommend what foliage would be best? Is the artificial stuff any good?

Good luck |
