Sorry mate, just deleted your thread by accident.

I was just posting a reply to Chris about Habistat Dimming Stats, they are not suitable for heatmats as they have a minimum load of 40W and most heatmats are <10W.

More info here: http://www.eurorep.net/habistat/dimming.htm

Its my first snake and I just wanna make sure Im doing it all properly!

Got my thermometers in the post today, where do i put the probes in the RUB? Ive put the hot end one under the top layer (of 5 layers) of kitchen roll over where the heat mat and warm hide will be and the cool end just stuck on the inside wall close to the ground in the other end, is this ok?

cheers

hehe yeah man! Went and got myself a microclimate B2, a wee heat mat and a water bowl. Got two of those digital thermometers off ebay. Ive also made two wee hides and have a bendable branch thing for the RUB....All I need now is a pair of forceps for feeding and maybe a bit of foliage.

Personally, no as its newness doesn't really matter to me as long as it works and I know I can get them at £30.

However, I am sure you would be able to sell it at £35 to someone, they are always popular, even if not on here then on RFUK as there is a large classifieds section on there.

Sounds like a plan, would you go to £35 since its v.new?

I don't think there's much between Habistat and MC really.

Dimming Stats go for £30 - £40 second hand. The last couple I've bought for £30 so would be willing to pay that if you were interested.

Hmmm, no-one seems to have a PP for swap. How much is it worth? More to the point, how much would you buy it from me for and ill just buy a PP? lol

Are the microclimate B2's as good as the habistat PP's?

cheers

That'd be far too sensible!
Blackecho Posted - 23/07/2009 : 13:24:32
Yes, you'd expect them to be similar wouldn't you!
chris100575 Posted - 23/07/2009 : 13:20:21
I've got a Microclimate, that's probably what I was thinking of.
Blackecho Posted - 23/07/2009 : 12:51:03
Its not all Dimming stats though, the Microclimate ones have a minimum load of ~4W I think it is.

Yes, so you could use it all through the life of the snake.

boze Posted - 23/07/2009 : 11:35:16
PS. Is a PP suitable for controlling a heatmat?

boze Posted - 23/07/2009 : 11:29:24
Ok, thanks man. Think ill see if anyone has a PP theyd swap, appreciate the advice though :-)

No, I wouldn't keep anything but a hatchling on a heatmat, and a mat-stat will not be good enough for a Ceramic bulb when you move into a viv.

So if you only want one stat that will last, you need a PP.
